Hi,
my F-1 Visa expired about a month ago, and I am in my grace period while waiting for my OPT to come through. Yesterday I got the notification that I won the diversity lottery..
My question is as follows:
If I file to change status in the USA, but for some reason I do not get my OPT and get deported, do I lose my chances with the green card? or am I never out of status since I have a pending application? Please help!

Hi all. I'm looking for a little help with part 2 of I-485. I've sent off my I-140 and I am hoping to apply adjustment of status concurrently. I wondering which box to fill in part 2. A. looks the closest, it reads: 'an immigrant petition giving me an immediately available immigrant visa number has been approved. (Attach a copy of the approval notice......)' My trouble is this: If my I-140 is approved then my visa number is no problem, it is current for my category/country (outstanding professor/Canada). Since the I-140 is pending, this looks like the wrong box, however, none of the others look even remotely close. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Bark

I got my visa B-1, B-2 on march 2000 since them i stay here but before i was here ilegal ( not visa) but i had two children 1990 and 1994 here and both are american. I got married now and my husband is going to the document !-130 ,1-485 ectt...

In my case, I got it directly via DHL sent by USCIS. My attorney did not receive my AP.

On Nov 8th, Senator Lieberman and 18 of his Senate colleagues, wrote to Michael Chertoff (Homeland Security Secretary) to extend 12 months opt to 29 months exercising his authority.
On Nov 11th, NAFSA President Johnson also wrote to Secretary Chertoff to make this change, endorsing above request.

I have my H1B visa with NIIT. My petition and visa for the first 3 yr period expire in October 2008. I am returning to India in April '08 to do my MBA, and will resign from NIIT, and therefore will not be able to renew my visa.
If I want to work in the US after I graduate, say in August '09, can an employer file a transfer petition based on this visa? Or Will they have to file for a new one under the quota? And if so, is there a way that I can hang on to my H1 status?

I am waiting on my AP for myself and wife. I am not sure for how long the AP is approved for. I saw that it is sent and I should be getting in a couple of days probably.
I also think that something should be done in order to get 3 year EAD/AP since the approval process is taking longer.

my wife is on H4 visa.... to work she would need H1...
BUT I have heared that if she gets some research-work in any University / non-profit organisation, they do give special work permit immediatly unlike H1 where u have to wait till October... IS THIS TRUE?

Ok, heres the problem. When i got to export my animation, it always slows down on the eighth frame exactly when its doing the ravid thing. I mean it will take 5-10 per frame until it gets to the eighth frame, then it takes about 20 minutes a frame...why? Is there anything im doing wrong???
