I realize they dont acknowledge anywhere the lack of visa numbers as a problem with EB immigration. They only speak of processing times delays and hiring more staff to overcome that.

I have been a silent user of IV for a very long time. When the Action item came for FOIA, I was wondering why such important information is buried in several threads. Then I started looking around in the IV site and found Action Alert button in home page. I saw this button for the first time after using IV for months and months. I just jump into the forum and start reading. I believe this button is not so obvious and it doesn't grab attention.
I think Action Alert is the first thing that users should see, so that they can know what IV is doing and how they can contribute.
IV core team / pappu - Could you please consider renaming this button and moving it so that it is very obvious to all users.

I think people who haven't applied for their green card until now won't ever be able to do so....DOL won't ever make PERM certifications easier.

Domicile Certificate i.e. Certificate of nationality shows the date of birth.Can this be used instead of Birth Certificate?

The immigration system mirrors the economy, now we know it. H1B visas (http://www.h1b.biz/lawyer-attorney-1137085.html) are still available with more than 15,000 are up for grabs. The numbers are pretty much unchanged since late May.
As of August 14, 2009, approximately 45,000 H-1B cap-subject petitions and approximately 20,000 petitions qualifying for the advanced degree cap exemption had been filed. USCIS will continue to accept both cap-subject petitions and advanced degree petitions until a sufficient number of H-1B petitions (http://www.h1b.biz/lawyer-attorney-1137085.html) have been received to reach the statutory limits, taking into account the fact that some of these petitions may be denied, revoked, or withdrawn. We will keep you posted with any changes in this area.

Can i travel on my H1B and Advance parole (EAD) and maintain the same H1B when i come back to the US? I've heard rumors that I will be forced to use the EAD on arriving at the airport. Hence I will lose my H1B (They have been serving as backups to each other)
Here are some additional details:
- Currently working for a company as an employee on my H1B
- H1b doesn't have valid stamping (should i go that route and get that??)
- My 485 Pending. Priority date is Aug 2005 on EB3
- Indian Citizen but born in Africa (EB3 is Rest of the World)
- Have had my EAD for the past two years (havent used it).
- i switched over companies last year and ported the greencard process - AC21
- I have an expired Advance Parole i filed over an 1 1/2 years ago (never used it) and was planning on re-applying for it
- I've lived in the US for the past 15 years and have at no point been illegal.
- Planning to travel to Europe in June.

Your post raises so many questions it is hard to know where to start.
The obvious one is if you do not have an employer, how have you got an H1B visa since it is the employer who petitions for it?
Second thought, where are you right now? Still in your own country or the USA?
In response to your question about a green card. If you are going to follow the employment based route, by definition, you are going to need an employer to get this process rolling. Starting with PERM labor certification.

My married daughter from India currently on visitor visa has been here to visit us. Would like to seek extension of her visa by 4-5 months so that she can spend little more time with us. All her immediate family members are in USA and with extended approved stay she can visit all family members and spend more time with old parents. She has 10-year visa given to her in December 2008 when she came for the first time after this visa. Her husband and children are in India.
